Linguistics has been an interest of mine since mid-2005. I picked James Paul Gee's An Introduction to Human Language from the library and read it over the course of a day or two. Since then I have dabbled in it when I've had the time.

My software page is up! There's not much there now, and what's there is in a perpetual beta state, it seems...

My notes on grammar are, as always, a work in progress; they're interesting as a reference and insight into how I see linguistics. I collect odd examples of various grammatical functions, since basic ones need no reference (hopefully!). If you come across and interesting gender, mood, or other function I'm missing, feel free to mention its absence to me.

To properly view the IPA symbols, you will need fonts supporting these characters. I recommend Gentium, but there are a number of web sites (including the IPA) have lists of fonts with Unicode support for linguistic characters. If your browser does not support font-switching, you might not see a character even though one of your fonts has the symbol. In that case I recommend downloading another font, or changing browsers. Firefox, for example, will switch fonts on demand to find a character.

I also maintain an annotated page of links, an ecclactic assortment of linguistic knowledge in fields that interested me at the time I collected them. At the last count they covered corpus-based linguistics, phonotactics, and computational linguistics.

Finally, what would a page on linguistics be without a gratuitous phonetic table? I'm filling it in, slowly, as I learn the sounds.
